Terms of Service

Accounts

You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential and tell us promptly about unauthorised use. One person per account; institutions may manage access through single sign-on. You are responsible for activity under your account, including that of API keys and connected agents.

Acceptable use

Use the platform for research and scholarship. Do not:

• upload identifiable patient or participant data without the required approvals and de-identification (the dataset scanner is a safety net, not a licence);
• upload content you have no right to share, including paywalled full texts beyond your own licensed use within a project;
• harass, impersonate or spam other researchers, or attempt to access accounts or projects you are not a member of;
• probe, scrape or overload the service, or circumvent rate limits and budgets;
• use AI — an agent you connect or the platform's own — to fabricate data, citations or results, or present its output as independent human review.

Your content

You keep all rights to what you create. You grant us a licence to store, process, display and transmit your content only as needed to run the service for you and your collaborators: this includes serving it to an AI agent you have connected and authorised, and, where the operator has enabled the platform's own AI, sending the passages a task needs to the configured model provider. Co-authored project content is jointly controlled by the project's members; leaving a project does not remove what you contributed.

AI assistance

The platform does not by default provide a language model. It provides tools an AI agent of your choosing can use through its MCP server; that agent is supplied by a third party under your own agreement with them, which governs the reasoning it does and what it costs you. Where the operator has switched the platform's own AI on, the platform additionally makes model calls on the operator's provider accounts, metered as described on the Pricing page.

In both cases what an agent produces — text, screening votes, extractions, analyses — is a proposal grounded in sources you can inspect, and reaches your manuscripts as tracked changes for you to accept or reject. You remain the author and are responsible for what you accept, publish or submit. Journals and funders may require disclosure of AI assistance; the platform appends an AI-use statement to exports to help you comply, and you are responsible for naming any agent of your own that the platform cannot identify.

Availability and changes

We aim for high availability but the service is provided as is; features may change, and we may suspend access to protect the platform or other users. We will give reasonable notice before discontinuing the service and a way to export your data.

Fees

Plans and prices are described on the Pricing page; while billing is switched off the service is free of charge. Paid plans, when introduced, will be described on the pricing page and require your explicit subscription; nothing converts automatically.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, after notice where practical. Sections on content, liability and governing law survive termination.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for research decisions made on the basis of platform output, or for third-party sources being unavailable or inaccurate. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
